Project Summary

Montgomery County Engineer is proposing to replace the existing structure carrying Arlington Road over an unnamed tributary to Wolf Creek, roughly 150 feet south of the intersection of Arlington Road and Upper Lewisburg Salem Road.

The existing deteriorated structure will be removed and a new 12-foot span by 6-foot rise box culvert will be installed in its place. The structure will be extended to the East so that the existing pedestrian bridge can be removed and replaced with an at-grade sidewalk that provides safer and more accessible passage for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The roadway, sidewalks, and curbs in the immediate area of the structure will be reconstructed. Existing water main, sanitary sewer, and gas distribution lines will be permanently relocated to avoid conflict with the new structure.

The project will be constructed in three phases. Phases 1 and 3 will maintain traffic in both directions on Arlington Road, and Phase 2 will maintain southbound traffic on Arlington Road while northbound traffic is detoured around the project using Westbrook Road, Albert Road, and Upper Lewisburg Salem Road. Access to all businesses in the area will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and conclude in August 2026, with each phase expected to last about six weeks.
