Project Summary
The Montgomery County Engineer is planning the rehabilitation of the bridge on Crawford Toms Run Road over Tom’s Run. The project site is located approximately 732 feet south of Air Hill Road and 0.5 miles north of Providence Pike.
The existing structure has received a general appraisal rating of 5 (fair), primarily due to the deck and superstructure conditions. Several beams exhibit significant spalling, with exposed rebar and prestressing strands. Additionally, spalling along the fascia beams has compromised the steel drip strips, decreasing drainage system efficiency and increasing the risk of moisture-related deterioration.
The proposed project includes a complete replacement of the superstructure using composite prestressed concrete box beams, as well as concrete repairs to the substructure. The scope also comprises the installation of new guardrails and associated roadway improvements.
